Meet the maker

Hi, I'm Sade.

The maker behind Simply Abeni, a small handmade studio in Calgary for crochet and quilted pieces made one at a time.

Made by my hands

Where it started.

My mom taught me to crochet. From there I kept going, teaching myself new stitches and styles from videos, photos and a lot of trial and error. Sewing I taught myself completely, one quilted piece at a time.

Simply Abeni began as a creative outlet and grew into a small business rooted in faith, gratitude and craftsmanship. I believe the things we carry every day should be beautiful and made to last.

Every bag, sleeve and pouch is made by me, by hand. When you order from Simply Abeni, you're supporting a real person and a story I'm proud to share.

The meaning of Abeni

“We asked for her, and behold, we got her.”

Abeni is one of my middle names. It's a Yoruba name, and it carries deep meaning for me.

My mother gave me this name after experiencing pregnancy loss and believing she might not be able to have another child. My life became an answered prayer, and building this business under that name felt right.

Thank you for being here

Beautiful things can take their time.

Every piece is made slowly and thoughtfully, with love. I hope one of them finds its way into your everyday.
